Literature Text

They called me a fence,
and built me up strong
with hammers and nails and wood
To keep them all safe,
dividing their lines,
all day and all night, there I stood.

They called me a wall
and pounded my sides,
berating and cursing my name
They peered through my peepholes
and tried to get past
though both of my sides were the same.

They called me a barrier
and used me for war,
drawing weapons, they climbed o'er my wall
The other side snarled
and did just the same,
so both, in their anguish, did fall

They now call me nothing
for both sides are dead,
I stand over rubble and bone
I silently watched
as each side fell apart
Here I stand, as a fence, all alone.

If you didn't get this, it's from the perspective of a fence. ;)
